City, State, Country Currently Living In: Scottsdale, AZ
Birthday, No Year; May 28
Birthplace: Mass
Marital Status/Children: Separated/4 children, I grandchild
Car/s: My Pony a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo
Currently Working On: Writing a Book "From Crown to Down" About being crowned Mrs. AZ, my physical and mental collapse, divorce, rebound marriage to an addict, and ending up homeless living in my car. Honestly, it could happen to anyone. I just worked through my shame, guilt, and embarrassment to speak up about it. How terrible for me to have gone through this awful experience of satan's deception and not reverse it for the glory of God. That would be wasting my life and not using it to help others avoid falling in the same pit I did.
Birth Order: Middle of 5 and the oldest girl
Favorite Quote: J.F.K. "There are risks and costs to a program of action, but they are far less than the risks and costs of comfortable inaction."
The Last Good Movie I Saw: Over The Hedge with my children. Great moral. Also, The Fourth Wise Man touched my heart.
The Last Good Book I Read: The Bondage Breaker By. Neil T. Anderson
Favorite Singer: How about favorite voice. Mariah Carey, her ability to live her life with the same beauty is apparently not her talent. (maybe she grew up. I do not know)
Favorite Song/s: No Doubt By Petra
Favorite Actress or Actor: Is an animated character ok? Dori on Finding Nemo. My children say were related. So I am a little forgetful and happy go lucky. What's wrong with that?
The Most Beautiful Person In The World: My grandma
The Most Attractive Person in the World: Anyone that works to make a positive difference.
My Favorite Childhood Friend: My cousin Takako in Japan, Kim Eaton in Ohio, Kathy Daddario in Germany. Hey, I am a AF brat. We moved a lot!
My Nickname Was/Is: Kailani means the sea and the sky. It's very eclectic like me.
I Want To Teach My Children: To love, obey and live for Jesus Christ
A Really Big Evening To Me Is: A Leisurely dinner, followed by the symphony and finished at the disco. Like I said eclectic.
The One Thing I Cannot Stand Is: A liar
I Knew I Was Grown Up When: I lifted my head up out of the toilet after drinking at a party in high school and thought to myself, "This isn't fun", and not allowed myself to be led by peer pressure to do anything stupid, harmful or dangerous. Heck I can do that all by myself without peer pressure! HA! So I was a "square" a "party pooper" a "drag", yet everyone loved that I was the designated driver ( maybe that is why they all thought I was nice). I just got high on dancing.
I Stay Home To Watch: My children, play cards and chit chat, I do not watch TV.
The One Thing Everybody Has Done But Me Is: Street drugs. During my modeling years there were tables with piles of cocaine, readily available, I was called a scardy cat and other names for not trying it, I had it all around me, but no desire to try it.
My father was a first sergeant and talked often over dinner about the how drinking and drugs got his young troops in trouble. He was open to talk about drugs, drinking and "bed partners" as he called them. He showed us photos of car accidents victims from drinking, aborted babies and deformities from drug use, talked of ruined lives and most importantly how it displeased God. My father was Irish Catholic, my mother (Shinto) later became a born again Christian. No, I was not perfect, but praise God I had enough strength, fear and the lack of desire to fall into it.
My All Time Favorite Story Is: Movie: Sound of Music Story: The book of Ruth and The Little House on The Prairie series.
My Favorite Pig Out Food Is: "see"food. I live to eat not eat to live, I am not shy about eating, I enjoy it all immensely. Seconds, please. Maybe that is why I talk a lot, to burn off the calories
My Prized Possession Is: It use to be the diamond ring my oldest brother bought for my 18th birthday, but it was pawned off for drugs in an abusive, destructive and very co-dependent relationship to an addict. After that experience, life is my prized possession, I have a new appreciation, value and self worth. God's goodness and grace is helping me make the best of that bad situation.
If I Could Look Like Anybody besides Myself, I'd Look Like: I wouldn't, my parents did a good job, and although I often wish I could change this and that, overall, I am ok with who I am and how I look, I am a fusion of two wonderful people, my parents.
I'd like To Meet: Past Present Men: J.Hudson Taylor Alan Keyes. Women: Eleanor Roosevelt, Kay Redfield Jamison
My Fantasy Is: Go to Hawaii, the natural not touristy part.
The Worst Advice An Adult Ever Gave Me Was: To stay in my relationship and "wait it out" as he goes though this "stage". Yep, it was his mother, remember there are no addicts or alcoholics without enablers.
I Am Better Than Anyone When It Comes To: Making a mess of my life than cleaning it up, wow, what a project! Praise God he wastes nothing and in all that dirt I found a "new Improved" me.
If I Could Change One Thing About Myself, I Would: Be 2" taller. I missed runway modeling when I was younger by 1". I was 5'8" and
minimum was 5'9" in Tokyo at the time, most of the European girls were over 5"11, for the first time in my life I was the shortest in the room, phrump!
People Who Knew Me in School Thought I Was: Very nice.
The Best Time Of My Life Was/Is: When I was a child living in Japan being around family, I felt loved, and a part of something important and valuable. I felt peace, calm and inner joy. My cousin Takako and I were best friends. A Military life was nice moving around, there was a lot of comradely and stable, familiar surroundings, but there was not an opportunity to develop long term relationships and to be around cousins, aunts and uncles.
The Worst Time Of My Life Was/Is: Seeing the relationship with my oldest daughter is not what I had hoped for, we had become distant during my second marriage. Personal note: Divorce is the WORST thing that can happen to a child. I believe that divorce is the open door for satan to get to our children. The best gift one can give their children is a strong and happy marriage, and it starts by choosing the right spouse for you and potential parent for your future children. Just loving someone does not qualify for a marriage partner.
Oops, I did it again, how did I end up in a marriage to a narcissistic sociopath addict? Where do I start? Rebound? The name of that book is "How to spot a predator" Avoiding destructive relationship, see the warning signs and run like hell. Or "How to Meet a man of Character and no, not a cartoon character".
Behind My Back, My Friends Say: I am nice, bubbly, a butterfly then a bumblebee in a mayonnaise jar.
If I Have Learned One Thing In Life, It's: To read the Bible daily and follow God's teachings, and yes an astounding YES, the Bible is applicable to today's living, it is an owner's manual, that would save us from so much grief and heartache if we follow His guidance. The BIBLE stands for Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth, B I B L E.
Two I needed to think more about. 1- The impact decisions in my life affect my children. Not that they make the decision, but for me to be wiser and less selfish on how my life sets the example for them. I am single, but I should not go out every weekend to party the "worlds" single life (just because I can) then tell my children not to do just what I am doing. Children see more then we realize, and listen to that much less. There is no double standards in sin, just because I am over 21 does not mean I can hit the bars and they can't.
2- We live in the world and are not to be of it, sometimes I can get caught up in the jokes and bantering, wanting to be part of the group that I sometimes can laugh a little and regret a lot. I tend to get along with anyone and can float gracefully like a jellyfish in and out of diverse social situations, but I need to remember to keep a spine for Christ.
My Most Humbling Experience Was/Is: Having my children see through my second husband, my error in judgment and spoke up before I did.
Three Words That Best Describe Me Are: Fun, easy going and personable |
| | A warrior takes responsibility for her acts, for the most trivial of acts. An average woman acts out her thoughts, and never takes responsibility for what she does. Carlos Casteneda Today's Lady in the Spotlight has worn many crowns. She has worn the crown of the warrior. She has worn the crown of the beauty queen. She wears the crown of mother and grand mother. There have been many jeweled moments for her life. Today, you will learn she has experienced other crowns that give her life meaning. This crowned one spends her life giving in service to others who have needs to recover from the many things that challenge human life for women, children, and men. Meet the lady who grew up an Air Force Brat. She's seen the world but makes home in The Phoenix Valley of Arizona. The Lady in The Spotlight for February 20, Twenty O Eight is Kailani.Oscar Crawford |
| Lady Intervies Kailani | LADY: Where did you get your caring heart? KAILANIA: My family, my parents are very giving and kind, my grandmother was a woman with a golden heart.
LADY: Who modeled caring for you and has been your greatest inspiration for life? KAILANIA: It was not so much caring but accepting, my grandma never met a stranger, every person she met she acted like they were her long lost friends, the caring just happened as a result of loving them.
LADY: What is your life mission? KAILANIA: To first help and love my children, love people, to show them I care, that they are important, valuable and that Jesus loves them more.
|
| | Sharing The GOSPEL | LADY: What is that thing greater than yourself that you are committed to? KAILANI: A sharing the gospel and showing everyone I meet the opportunity for Salvation through my life. St Francis of Assisi said " Share the gospel at all time, use words only if necessary"
LADY: What do you sense is the greatest need among people where you live and people across the Planet Earth? KAILANI: To be acknowledged
LADY: If you had the power to change three things going on in the world right now, what would you change and why? KAILANI: Nothing, it is what it is sin, misery and death is all part of living, it's our free will decisions, which create the consequences we live out, weather it is of our own action or that of others. We live a life of consequences, and to change anything would take away our free will. I like quotes, "Those who would give up essential liberty (freedom) to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Benjamin Franklin. To eliminate misery, how then would we experience or know joy? |
 | Diverse Community Brings Spice | LADY: What is your sense of the why of the conflicts between adult women and men, people of different ethnic groups, people of different economic groups, or just people of different social or gender preferences? KAILANI: Well, we are like the spice shelf. Together we can stand side by side, (a diverse community), the spices, enhance flavor, or with another, it adds a kick, boost richness, and brings out distinct character of the a meal. Then there are the moments, not one particular spice, but perhaps a combination of spices that are conflicting in flavor, can be bitter, too sweet, salty, strong, over powering, even obnoxious, like people.
LADY: Who is your current greatest living influence and why? KAILANI: Right now Alan Keyes comes to mind. I have heard him speak, read his articles over the years and what he could gain by wavering in his faith, he does not. He is a courageous man of great faith that unashamedly and consistently stands for Biblical truth. For as long as I can remember, I cannot think of a moment that he compromised Christ for the world gains. I liked the way he handled his situation with his daughter, with such love and compassion yet, doing the right thing according to God among all the critics. This was a quote in action. "What is popular is not always right and what is right is not always popular.

LADY: What are your recommendations for families with children?
KAILANI: Easy! God first, spouse second, and children third. The best gift to your children and yourself, as I mentioned earlier is a happy and strong marriage. A threefold cord is seldom broken. Today with all the politically correct, incorrect messages, I see most families where the tail is wagging the dog, in other words the kids have the say of the household. A child centered home only breeds selfish children, a resentful spouse and a feeling of failure to you. |
 | Christianity Is a Lifestyle | LADY: How do you process all the human violence and natural disasters taking place all over the world? KAILANI: I believe they have always been here, media makes it appear as it's all new and getting worse. For example, history show us earth quakes in China in the last century that killed millions, we just did not hear about it for the lack of the T.V., Radio, Internet that get the message around.
Another example is the Child Abuse statistics, when they started to record them, they were shocked at the increase? It was already a problem, it was just not reported before.
A more important one and a HUGE deceiver is teen pregnancy rates. Whoopee, it is declining however, the other side of that is the increase of abortions. Should we really be cheering for the decrease of teen pregnancies, really?
And if the population soars, so will crime and all the other nasty's.
LADY: What are you living for? What do you hope for yourself, your family, your community, and for humanity? KAILANI: I am living to show the way the truth and the light, everyday. My real success in life is bringing my children to the point where they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. I look at them as Gods kids and I am the babysitter, when He comes to pick them up, I think he'd like them to be there for Him.
Please do not think I am so wonderful and holier than thou, Christianity is a lifestyle but we are also human, I slip and fall sometimes, I run and hide only to return with a fig leaf, that is the wonder of Salvation. Jesus dies for our sins "while we were yet sinners", not after we became perfect. And do not misunderstand this, grace is not a revolving door, it is not sinning to request forgiveness to sin again. It is not a license. He knows our hearts and will turn us over to our sins and wash his hands of us if we live our life as such. That should scare anyone straight. I praise God that he opened a window when I though the door was closed. LADY: What is your sense of what the future holds?
KAILANI: To me life is not about personal gain or material possessions; it is about successful relationships and making a positive difference in the world, not for the worlds sake but for the sake of salvation.
