Welcome to The Lady in The Spotlight for January 23, 2008.  Today's Lady with the great look, great, interests, great heart, and great service hails from the Land of The Ring Sun.  She is a woman, wife, mom, and poet with a heart for love of art and the love of people and our beloved Planet Earth.  Today's Lady is Takako.
Interview with Takako
LADY:  Where did you get your caring heart?

Takako:  I think the birth of my two kids gave me that. Becoming a mother helps women better truly.

Lady:  Who modeled caring for you and has been your greatest inspiration for life?

Takako:  Mother Teresa, I respect her a lot.

Lady:  What is your life mission?

Takako:  One thing is writing poems. I would like to express how important our usual lives are. Even if nothing special, there are a little miracle here and there. I trust it naturally. One another thing is making a donation for children in
Africa
. I pray peace all over the world.

Lady:  What is that thing greater than yourself that you are committed to?

Takako:  I join UNICEF monthly support membership. It gives me the chance to make my second life misson come true.

Lady:  What do you sense is the greatest need among people where you live and people across the Planet Earth?

Takako:  It's very simple. I think loving ourself is the greatest need among people. Most of our sadness around the world causes from the lack of narcisism(in a good meaning), in my opinion.

Lady:  If you had the power to change three things going on in the world right now, what would you change and why?

Takako:  No more War. No more poverty. No more global warming.

As for the global warming, now the environment of the earth is in the critical situation. We, poets need the natural beauty of our mother. If not, what kind of things we can write...especially, Japanese ancient poets shared joy with nature and wrote poetry. I follow this great guidance as a Japanese poet.

No more poverty and war.  Imagine if your kid die soon when she/he are born. Can't you stand this terrible situation?  Regretably, it is taking place in reality world somewhere.
My wish is the happiness for mothers all over the world, 'cause I know how precious our kids are.

Lady:  What is your sense of the why of the conflicts between adult women and men, people of different ethnic groups, people of different economic groups, or just people of different social or gender preferences?

Takako:  In my sense, I always tend to treat people equal. Luckily, I have many friends all over the world. In short, we all are different from others. Our DNA is not the same, right?
I try to enjoy our each difference in my life.
I know everyone agree with my sense. Some people loves to conflict with such small things. They need their status as a hero or heroine. However, if they love themselves, they don't need their status at all, loving ourself means "selfless" in short.

Lady:  Who is your current greatest living influence and why?

Takako:  All friends in this myspace.com.  I'm a Japanese common woman, not young, not attractive, not gorgeous...only I love writing. 1 year ago, I began writing poems. At first, no one knew me at all. Gradually, freinds kindly informed about me as a poet in their page. Besides, they are always with me, good or bad. Their comments hearten me, and give enough power and energy for me to contine writing, even if my English is "broken".

Also, writing gives me another chance to know the importance of my family more and more.

Lady:  What are your recommendations for families with children?

Takako:  My recomendation is "being with kids" sharing joys together. That is my basic policy between I and my kids.

Lady:  How do you process all the human violence and natural disasters taking place all over the world?

Takako:  As for natural disasters, now I work in the company for the better environment for earth as an accountant. Working hard there is my one of my process against that.

About the human violence, I hope my poems contribute to reduce that. It also happens when they deny their existance in their lives.

Lady:  What are you living for? What do you hope for yourself, your family, your community, and for humanity?

Takako:  I'm living for "love". I hope "smile" for everyone!

Lady:  What is your sense of what the future holds?

Takako:  That is Eternal PEACE.  I trust our original ability named "love".  It gives us the victory against poverty, war, global warming, confilction with small things, the human violence, natural disasters, and any kind of difficulty in now!
Garth Brooks sings a song called Unanswered Prayers when he remembers a woman he loved and wanted when he was in high school so bad he hurt inside. Years later, he saw her and was thankful his prayers had gone unanswered. His fantasy was gone.

Earlier today, I thought of others like you and me, I am sure are thankful things didn't go their way. First, Emily (not her real name) was on her way to Guyana to join family members of The People's Temple. Running late, she missed her plane. Disgusted and disappointed, news arrived to Emily that members of the People's Temple in Jonestown Guyana had all participated in a mass suicide. Emily was thankful for unanswered prayers.

Second, Jerry (not his real name) was at war in Vietnam. One morning before sunrise while sleeping in a bunker with his unit, Jerry heard his wife's voice say, "Get up and go outside."

He got up and walked out. As soon as he cleared the bunker, a bomb hit it and killed everybody inside. He fell to his knees and later put in a call to his wife to let her know he was OK.

Another time, Jerry's on a helicopter mission with his team. He hears his wife's voice say, "Lean Forward." As he leans forward, the soldier next to him is hit. Later, Jerry falls to his knees and then calls his wife.

After Vietnam, Jerry continues his federal government service. On April 19, 1995, Jerry wakes up a bit frustrated with his wife because he has over slept. All she could say was she believed she should let him sleep a little longer that morning. Jerry gets up, gets dressed, and gets on his way to work still frustrated because he will be late.

One block from work Jerry hears an explosion. The ground shakes. The Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City has been bombed. Jerry immediately returns home to hold his wife.

Today, I invite you to join me in taking time to give thanks for unanswered prayers and not getting the many things we wanted that were not in our. I am thankful for you and the privilege to connect with you this way. You are loved and very much appreciated.

Live Well and Love Well My Beautiful Friends and Loved Ones Like You Are Running Out Of Time. You Really Are.
