OYE! OYE!  OYE!  The LADY in The Spotlight is ON!  You are being introduced to an extraordinary lady today.  She is originally from the Philippines.  She's a wife, a mom, a dialysis technician, a singer, an actress, a photographer, and a truly beautiful human being.

You talked to me about the direction you wanted to see LADY go.  Well LADY is back with Ladies in The Spotlight with great looks, great hearts of love, and great dreams.  These are the women who inspire our world.

Today's Lady in The Spotlight is all of the above.  She is a woman of powerful character and qualities.  She is passionate about her love for the Earth, her family, and building loving community.  Meet today's lady. Her name is Yonera Murray.  Friends and loved ones call her "YONIE".

Friends Call Me Yonie

My name is Yonera Murray. My friends and loved ones call me "YONIE".  I am married with 3 beautiful children, 2 girls and a boy. Their ages are 18, 14 & 11. I live in Tucson, Arizona but originally from the Philippines.

I came to America in June 1992. My native language is called "TAGALOG".  I can speak a little bit of Cantonese and Spanish. My hobbies are arts and crafts, hiking, kayaking, camping, cooking, playing musical instruments like; guitar, violin, banduria, octavina, piano, upright base and drums. I belong to 2 groups here in Tucson; the Philippine Mabuhay Cultural Foundation of Tucson (We sing and dance) and Halau Hula O'Ualani for 11 yrs now (Hawaiian dance group).

Dancing hula is my exercise.  We tell the story by hands, finger movements, and hip swaying. We do shows for birthdays, weddings and luau parties. I'm interested in modeling and acting. I write poems and songs when I'm inspired. I'm a very outgoing person, friendly and easy to get along with.

My Children My Inspiration
LADYWhere did you get your caring heart?

YONERA:  I got it from my family, church, school & community. As a child, I was surrounded by people with good, kind hearts. My parents raised me to be loving and kind to others and to have good moral values.

LADY:  Who modeled caring for you and has been your greatest inspiration for life?

YONERA:  My parents were the one's who modeled and cared for me. My children are my greatest inspiration for life.

LADY:  What is your life mission?

YONERA:  To share God's greatest gift, love of mankind.

LADY:  What is that thing greater than yourself that you are committed to?

YONERA:  God, the greatest of all

LADY:  What do you sense is the greatest need among people where you live and people across the Planet Earth?

YONERA:  That people need God in their hearts.

LADY:  If you had the power to change three things going on in the world right now, what would you change and why?

YONERA:  1) Violence - so much violence going on nowadays; 2) War - What people need are joy, peace and love. We don't need to fight. If everyone can keep peace in their hearts, the world will be a better place to live; 3) Death - People's lives nowadays gets shorter as the new generation arises. Why? Because of the lifestyle they have, starting from their diet. The way they eat and the way they live. Food that we buy from grocery stores has so much additives and preservatives. People are eating more and not exercising. In order for you to live healthy, you need to exercise and eat a well balanced diet. Here's one more thing. People rely on taking too much medicine. They take synthetic pills on every little ache that they feel. When it comes to medicines, the more you take the more dosage you take the next time. Our body is like a pipe, toxins build up in our system that our body doesn't know how to flush it anymore. Too much medicine that you take builds up. It becomes toxic. I'm not saying that you shouldn't take medicine. For little headaches, maybe you should just relax and lie down or sleep. Mint teas and massages helps relieve the pain. Stress is the most contributor of headache.

LADY:  What is your sense of the why of the conflicts between adult women and men, people of different ethnic groups, people of different economic groups, or just people of different social or gender preferences?

YONERA:  Some men think that they are always above women when it should be equal. Human are born equal. From dust we came from and dust we will be. Communication and understanding each other are what men and women need. Women can do things men can't do and vise versa. Each of us has different preferences and we need to respect that. People came from all walks of life, different backgrounds and different beliefs and way of living. No one is better than the other. Everyone is equal.

LADY:  Who is your current greatest living influence and why?

YONERA:  My parents are my greatest living influence. They taught me to do the same thing they have learned from their parents. They taught me to treat others nice even though others are not nice to me. They taught me to be humble and help others who are in need. They taught me to love unconditionally without expecting anything in returns.

Greatest Living Influence

LADY:  What are your recommendations for families with children?

YONERA:  Your children should be your top priority. Teach them to do good deeds while they are young because it's harder to correct them when they are older. Just like a tree that is growing crooked cannot be fixed when it's grown because it is not as flexible anymore as when it was still young.

LADY:  How do you process all the human violence and natural disasters taking place all over the world?

YONERA:  It is sad hearing all kinds of violence that are happening around the world. Who do we blame for their actions? Who influenced them to do such things? All I can say is, most of these started at home. Some parents are just too busy taking care of other things when their children are crying for their attention. Listen to them.  Attend to them.  They   need you! Bad influence comes from other children who are being neglected by their parents. The world has gone bad. There's just too much violence all around us.

-Natural disasters? Most of these are cause by human being. Like loggers! They cut so many trees and not replacing them. And the result is Flood! Used oils and other toxic materials are being thrown in the ocean that caused fish and other living things under water to die. Plants- People uses so many pesticides and fertilizer. They're not grown natural anymore. We are putting so many toxins in our body by eating unnatural food.

Health is Wealth

LADY:  What are you living for? What do you hope for yourself, your family, your community, and for humanity?

YONERA:  In this world, we are just passing through. What are we aiming for? What are we living for? Where are we going? What do we want to accomplish before we die? I can tell you one thing. I am so fortunate that I was given a "LIFE." The most I would want for me & my family is to have "GOOD HEALTH." I can't ask for more. If you have good health, you have good life. What is life without good health when you can't enjoy it? I don't care if I don't have a lot of money, for me, "HEALTH is WEALTH." There is no other gift a person could have but to have "GOOD HEALTH."

What The Future Holds

LADY:  What is your sense of what the future holds?

YONERA:  No one knows what the future holds but one thing I can say is that the world is going bad. Yes, there are violence all around us but show the world PEACE and LOVE starting from us.

Yonera's Tribute to Her Mother and Her Husband

Thank You Mother

It was so dark, I couldn't see
but I can hear so perfectly
a melodic voice was all I hear
Just like a bird that sings in tune

Nine months of wait, was that too long?
She carried me so patiently
When time was up for me to come out
At last I'll see the world so bright

Oh, was I frightened, and so I cried
But when I felt a gentle touch
And saw a very pretty face
I glanced at her and gave a smile

If I could only talk that moment
The only thing I'd like to say, is
"Thank you Mother, you're so dear
For bringing me into this world"

 Until You Came Along

I thought that I was helpless
and no one seems to care
I thought that I was hopeless
My life cannot compare.

The path that I was treading
it was a narrow way
it wasn't all that easy
my life was all but pain.

I couldn't find myself
until you came along
you filled my heart with joy
and made my life complete.
